At the first sign of a cold, ‘flu or a sore throat
There are many cold remedies, but these come up as my firm favourites. Echinacea is renowned for it’s antibacterial/antiviral properties. Dandelion and Puslane Extract is a mixture of Chinese herbs. Try either of these and see which works best for you. Take them at the highest doses at least 4 times per day at the first sniff of a cold – that raw throat feeling and you could divert a nasty cold that could lay you low for weeks! Keep taking it until there are no symptoms, then reduce the dose to three times daily for a couple of days. For me, just taking them for a couple of days does the trick!
If you’re prone to getting colds, keep one of these remedies with you and drop into water and sip whilst in those likely environments where colds and ‘flu are rampant.
Minor burns and scalds, sunburn and skin irritations
Aloe Vera Gel
If you go to the Caribbean, the locals watch the mad English with amazement. They know that by the end of the day they will make some money, as they emerge off the beach beetroot red. For a fee, they cut leaves from the wild succulent, aloe plant, and squeeze the sap contents from the leaves onto the backs of the bathers. The results are short of miraculous. By the morning, the redness is gone and everyone goes on the beach back for more sun.
Aloe Vera Gel is a nutritional storehouse, containing vitamins B1,B2,B6,C, niacinamide, choline and 18 amino acids, in addition to many other nutritional substances. It is fantastic for putting onto sunburn – takes all the redness out and reduces blistering if applied early enough. It is great for putting onto cuts and patches of eczema and dermatitis.
