Stress, Tension and Anxietyposted on 22 November 2007 | posted in Health Tips
It is estimated that 13.5 million working days are lost every year due to work-related stress conditions. In 2008/9, according to the Labour Force Survey, an setimated 415,000 individuals in Britain who worked in that year believed that they were experiencing work-related stress at a level that was making them ill.
The brain and the nervous system provide a vital communication link between our internal and external worlds. They are responsible for processing and storing information, thinking, perceiving pain, sleeping, breathing, sending signals for muscles to contract so that we can move, glandular secretions, maintaing body temperature, and much more.
Stress is a fact of life. How much it affects us negatively is largely determined by how we react to the stresses we encounter. Prolonged emotional stress can lead to a breakdown of health. Stress can also increase the need for certain nutrients because stress alters our very metabolic processes. We need these raw materials to make body chemicals that keep our bodies functioning properly.
Stress is closely related to nutrition. The fight or flight response increases the metabolic process, which in turn increases the need for certain vitamins, particularly the water-soluble B complex and C vitamins. These must be replenished on a daily basis.
We suggest taking Nutricalm , that contains these vital nutrients and has been designed with stress in mind, along with at least one herbal supplement such as Chamomile and Passionflower Combination Extract for a period of at least three months.
