Sickness and Diarrhoea

It's almost inevitable that sickness and diarrhoea hits the family sometime during the year.

The best cure is to not eat and drink plenty of water to ensure that you don't get dehydrated.

There are obviously different reasons why an attack can occur and if the symptoms continue for more than 24 hours do consult your doctor or NHS direct. The most usual reasons are enteric bacteria or viruses as in gastroenteritis or food poisoning.

It isn't wise to suppress diarrhoea by taking a pharmaceutical formula made for that purpose. The body is trying to rid itself of a pathogen or toxin and sickness and diarrhoea is its natural way of doing that.

In our clinic we suggest to our clients that they keep in

Liquid Chlorophyll that has a subtle taste of spearmint, making it a refreshing drink. chlorophyll, the substance that makes plants green, promotes a healthy digestive system, and often the sickness and diarrhoea clear up much quicker than it would normally if taken soon after the attack starts.

Other remedies that can be used in this crisis are:

Activated Charcoal
for disinfecting the bowel and absorbing toxic material; Agatha Thrash, MB from the Pines Institute in Alabama recommends a water and charcoal cocktail: Put two to three tablespoons of activated charcoal powder in the bottom of a large glass and add a small amount of water (bottled may be best if you're travelling). Stir it slowly and then add more water to fill the glass. Drink through a straw. It doesn't taste that nice, but it's cheap and effective. Taking it in capsule form (at least 6 at a time) with plenty of water is another option.

Silver Shield
, a great anti-bacterial and antiviral remedy that should be in everyone's cupboard (also useful for preventing and treating infections in external cuts and wounds)

Ginger is another great remedy as it's refreshing - just what you need when you're being sick. Try shaving a few pieces of fresh ginger into a mug and pouring boiling water over it. Let it steep for ten minutes and then allow it to cool before drinking.

If the attack continues to upset the digestive system, consider taking some good bacteria in the form of probiotics such as Bifidophilus to help push the 'bad guys" out.

Using these measures may help prevent the problem of sickness and diarrhoea escalating and ensure a swift recovery from this debilitating health problem.
