Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Mycoplasmaposted on 6 June 2009 | posted in Health ArticlesRheumatoid Arthritis is a progressive disabling disease and the problem is that the so-called ‘disease modifying’ drugs are a poor solution What might the culprit be? Most doctors believe that infection plays a role in RA. As early as the 1950’s Dr. T McPherson Brown proposed that infection may be the clue as to what causes rheumatoid arthritis. He concluded that the species of bacteria called mycoplasma may be the culprit. He found that long-term treatment with the antibiotic group tetracyclines produced long lasting remissions. What Are Mycoplasma? Mycoplasma belong to the class of bacteria called Mollicutes. They are the smallest free-living organisms and have no cell walls and they can colonise inside human cells. There are many strains, the worst to affect people are micoplasma fermentans, M. incognitus. M. pneumonia may be a cause of some chronic coughs. Other organisms that are similar are ureaplasma urealyticum. 63% of SLE (systemic lupus erethomatosis) and 4% of chronic fatigue sufferers have micoplasma antibodies and when the synovial fluid (fluid around joints) of RA sufferers is put into culture it is almost 100% positive form mycoplasma. Recent PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests on the blood of RA sufferers showed that 70% were mycoplasma positive and bits of the genome of the organism have been obtained from tissues. Mycoplasma make the immune system highly reactive, hence creating an auto-immune problem in the body where the body starts to attack it’s own tissue. The problem is, it itself is often protected from the immune system because it’s protected by the cell it lives in – in other words it becomes ‘part’ of the tissue. What Can be Done to Eradicate Mycoplasma? Well as you can imagine, it is difficult to eradicate, but with measures using orthodox medicine approach combined with natural remedies, great improvement can be made. Drugs that Are Worth Asking Your Doctor About Erythromycin Minocin 100mg three times per week makes quite a difference A Very Effective Natural Approach to Rheumatoid Arthritis Lessen the Heavy Metal Toxic Load from the Body Removing heavy metals from the body particularly mercury. Mercury and other toxic heavy metals often enter our body at a faster rate than they can be eliminated, sometimes ending up bound in tissues, where the body considers it the safest place to be stored. Unfortunately these tissues are also a good place for viruses, bacteria ( such as mycoplasma) fungus (such as candida)and parasites to reside. Be careful about having amalgam (silver coloured) fillings removed without help from a natural healthcare practitioner as even with careful removal by your dentist it can cause more mercury to get into your system. Practitioners at our at our clinic can help you. It is quite common that RA sufferers comment that they feel that they had ‘never been well since getting food poisoning or getting gastroenteritis’. Underlying causes that need addressing are bad bacteria in the intestinal tract. Therefore treating any candida or parasites, allergies or nutritional deficiencies can really help sufferers.
